In a move that makes the Iraqi government almost look like it's got a brain, the approximately 250 former Blackwater contractors still in country were given 7 days to get out of Dodge. So to speak.
In a piece just published on CNN it is reported that the Iraqi Interior Minister has given them notice.
Now I don't know about you, but it is my firm belief that ALL contractors of whatever stripe ought to get out of Iraq immediately.
The fact is that many, if not most, of these so-called contractors are being paid out of the US Treasury to do "jobs" that are, for the most part 99% mischief.
I think I already saw this movie.
Maybe this isn't quite enough to make a real diary, but it seemed to me something of which we should be aware.
Sourcewatch gives a fuller picture of what's up with the re-named Company Formerly Known As Blackwater-- now cleverly renamed "Xe."
The aptly named Erik Prince, now chair of Xe, having stepped down last March as CEO, was indepently wealthy before he started Blackwater and his practice of getting no-bid contracts from the Federal Government via connections with the Bush Administration.
Iraq has sense enough to run Blackwater out-- even those who now work for other firms. When will our government figure it out ?
