How refreshing is it to hear someone speak intelligently?
Anyone who was lucky enough to catch The Rachel Maddow Show last night already witnessed this artful yet devastating denial of the deniers.
Starting out with some badass footage of "hail mary" baskets made in basketball games, Rachel goes on to spell out where, how and why climate change deniers are about as foolish as any "sentient" creature to roam the Earth since Neanderthals (no disrespect to the Neanderthals intended).
Through the magic of YouTube, we can share with you the glorious video (below the fold).
A few of the many choice quotes:
If one person wins the lottery, it does not disprove the existence of the recession.
If it rains in the desert, that does not disprove the existence of the desert. It's still a desert, right there in the place that it rained.
Gravity exists; so do storms.
She later welcomes Bill Nye the Science Guy to try and keep a straight face as they discuss just how someone can entertain denialism in this modern era. It would be just like trying to talk about heliocentrism two hundred years after Copernicus. You really would struggle to do it with about either laughing or crying.
Kudos to Nye for pointing out that science-deniers are "unpatriotic".
OK.
I don't know that I want to spoil much more of this.
If you haven't seen it yet, watch the video, m'kay?
Later in the show she also smacks down James Inhofe, BTW, so it was an epic episode after her epic episode 23 hours earlier.
Enjoy!
