This is my first diary on Daily Kos. There appears to be a lot of rules, so lets hope I'm towing the line!! If not I'm sure I will be informed.
I'm writing out of frustration. I know I'm not the only one. I feel like I am living on Planet Logic-less. Nothing makes sense any more. Up is down, down is up, black is white, white is black, right is wrong and wrong is right. And here I stand thinking I can't be the only one who see's the insanity? I'm grateful that I am not. All I have to do is come to Daily Kos and know that there are other sane people here. But why aren't we winning? Are we just not loud enough; or maybe we don't play dirty enough. But then we'd be like them.
I know many have written on these frustrations already. However, I'm very disturbed by the tea party event in Nashville. I pretty much got what I expected from Palin. But am just beyond disturbed about Tancredo's speech and the crowds response to it. They were in a frenzy, beside themselves with joy even at the thought of literacy tests! And then, when asked if this might just be a tad racist, they become beside themselves with offense and dismay. How could the MSM label us racists! I mean do they really not see? I know there were only 600 in Nashville, but I fear that behind them there may be millions who don't see either. Are they ignorant, or are they just intellectually lazy and don't want to know the truth, are they really scared so they latch on to something or someone they think will save them? I'm really baffled about why conservatives are so attracted to this group.
While I likely won't agree with conservatives on most issues, I know that there have been voices of reason and sanity from the right in the past. Those that can make a meaningful argument from their point of view without making up facts or calling names. Where are they? Don't they want their party back from the unhinged right. Megan McCain is the only conservative that I have heard stand up to say what she heard at the tea party was wrong. I fear for our country and feel helpless to do anything but pour out my frustration about it.
I did think it was a hopeful sign that a recent poll I saw had most Americans agreeing that Sarah Palin was not qualified to be President. Maybe there is hope yet and the rest is just noise....one can dream.
