There's a new NYT/CBS poll out that asks the question of whether the ability to Filibuster should be ended. 44% of respondents said the filibuster should remain in place, 50% said it should be removed.
http://documents.nytimes.com/... (Question 53).
Taken along with Pelosi's comments, there is no reason why Democrats should not feel comfortable with getting rid of the filibuster and pushing through their agenda.
Take a look at the rest of the poll while you're at it. You'll see broad support for most of Obama's agenda. You'll see Congress being viewed as obstructionist.
Obama needs to look at this poll, see that he has support, and fight for his ideas.
At the very least, Democrats should feel comfortable using reconciliation. But, I'm sure the Dems have had internal polling saying people are fine with circumventing the filibuster. The question is why they haven't done it yet. Who's holding the Dems back? Obama? Conservadems? Whoever's doing it needs to be removed from office.
