Below the fold is my 2nd in what will be a series of letters to the beleagured "leader" of the Senate Democrats. It is unfortunate that our elected democratic leaders have not risen to the occasion of paying off the credit card the republicans used between 2000-2006 nor creating laws that would control the banksters and Wall Street's reign of terror against the country. But it our duty to keep writing our Senators and hopefully, just hopefully, they will understand that if they cannot create and pass the bills that democrats support they may be a real minority in November of 2010.
Dear Senator Reid:
I am following up with the letter that I faxed last month. As a concerned Democrat, I not only want to see Democrats hold onto the seats we have gained in the Senate and House, but also increase the amount of seats we have. Unfortunately, one must ask himself what is the goal of all the Democrats in the Senate. I question the actions of Senators Baucus, Bayh, Lincoln and Nelson just to name a few. It seems that their concern is not working on the democratic values such as healthcare, a jobs programs, the EFCA, and the fairness doctrine. Many democrats feel that a fairness doctrine is very important just to have a balance of information to reach the public.
As just a voter and constituent of Massachusetts, I understand that I may not have the same "voice" as the corporate constituents, but the problem that Democratic Elected Officials have is that if you only listen to the corporate class is that you may get the donations but you won't get the votes to stay elected.
It is up to you and the other elected officials to enthuse those who will support and vote for you to the polls. Acting like the democrats are in the minority because they are in the "41-59 minority", your message cannot get out because conservatives own most of the radio and television stations, and because "conservadems or DLC'er" would rather bow to the alter of corporations instead of trying to do what is best for BOTH the middle class and corporations will only lead to the Republican party retaking the majority. And when they have a 51-59 lead, they somhow become the majority.
To sum up what I am trying to say. It is February, unless the Democrats can pull a 180 degree turn, start acting like they have a second largest majority in years, start passing laws that resonate with the middle class, and start creating laws to curb in the "Bankers and Corporatists gone wild", it is going to be a very sad November 2010.
P.S. If winning is important the November, then I would suggest that not letting any DLC members run any of of the campaigns. If the DLC were a baseball player, they would have made Bob Uecker seem like a batting champion.
This is the second of what will hopefully amy letters to follow. All we can really do is keep writing, calling and asking questions on when the Democratic elected Officials will one, start supporting laws that will hepl the majority of the country and two, when aqre they going to start acting like they control the majority.
My first letter to Senator Harry Reid
