Overturning solidly entrenched powermongers -- like the predatory banksters Citibank, BofA and the ginormous criminal empire currently known as Goldman Sachs -- does not happen overnight.
The founding fathers knew this: they signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, but it would be another 8 lonnnnnnnng years and the Revolutionary War before they finally secured our liberty and the Constitution. It took another 150 years before women got the right to vote, and after that, another 44 years before African Americans got theirs as well.
The rigged casino that we know today as Wall Street didn't happen overnight. They schemed, schmoozed and manipulated Washington for DECADES to get to where they are today. Yet, we expect fundamental, radical upheaval and change in just one year from Obama -- and yet we're willing to get up and walk away. Already???????
We are in the fight of our lifetimes for the very soul of our country. Whether our country will fulfill its mandate of "by the people, of the people, and for the people". No matter HOW BAD it looks right now, know one thing -- it ALWAYS looks bad when you're up against a rich and powerful that's bound and determined to keep it that way.
Newsflash: even after Citzens United, we have NOT lost this fight.
Unless, of course, we decide to throw in the towel and give up.
