Just saw this on TPM and NJ.com....NJ Senator Frank Lautenberg, champion of mass transit, and signer of the THE healthcare letter has been diagnosed with TREATABLE stomach cancer. Still the Senator is 86 yrs old.......
Senator Lautenberg came out of retirement to run in 2002 after the Robert Toricelli scandels and won holding the seat for the Dems. He has been in the Senate for 5 terms now. After a fall he was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with treatable stomach cancer....
Diagnosis
Sen Lautenberg is a local boy made good and has done a good job during his Senate tenure. Not the most flashy, but has been on the right side of most issues.
Sen Frank
I hope that the Senator recovers fully and gets back to work as soon as possible. While his staff indicates Frank is considering running again in 2014 I hope he decides to retire again and Congressman Rush Holt decides to run. Cong. Holt is very good, and he is a rocket scientist. He would be a welcome addition to the Senate.
Now we just have to get Sen Menendez to sign that letter....
