This issue has me fired up and ready to go!
The Supreme Court sold out American democracy with it's 5-4 decision regarding Citizen United vs FEC. So, I quickly typed up an e-mail and sent it to the NY Times and lo and behold...
The Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission paves the way for the corporate takeover of electoral politics, self-government and democracy.
The only solution to prevent this is to add a new amendment to the Constitution: No corporation, limited liability entity or other corporate entity created by state or federal law or the law of another nation shall make donations of money or other things of value in connection, directly or indirectly, with a federal, state or local election.

I've written almost exclusively about this decision since it broke last week here on dKos. See my postings here.
To summarize it all into a single paragraph:
Let's be frank, the corporations already control our lives via consumer products, loans, credit, grants, sponsorships, underwriting, employment and unemployment. Unrelenting advertisements insult our intelligences and lure our children to the false happiness of materialism. Commercialism corrupts our traditions and holidays. But worst of all, the promotion and popular acceptance of anti-intellectualism and outright ignorance corrodes the basic fabric of our culture and society. Yet, we are still told from a young age that our democracy was sacrosanct.
