Just now Senator McCain used Texas as an example of HCR. Bad example John.
He neglects to say that Texas has the highest number of uninsured in any state. He neglects to say that Texas has the highest number of doctors dropping Medicaid and Medicare patients. He forgets to say that Texas has the highest number of medical malpractice cases in the country. He forgets to say that Texas has the lenient rules regarding the type of medicine that can be practiced, ie general practitioners doing cosmetic surgery with limited education or experience. He doesn't say how Medicaid in Texas does not cover single adults of any age. He neglects to tell you that the mainstay of the majority of Texans are forced to use state or county hospitals for well-care putting an inordinate strain on state and local budgets. He neglects to tell you about how the for-profit hospitals kill more seniors by overdosing them on chemotherapy levels meant for someone 50 years younger or other poisonous medications than any state in the union.
Sure there are more doctors coming here because malpractice insurance is down due to limited liability. But he neglects to tell you that that legislation he says works so well was passed by LESS THAN 5% of the voting population because the GOP held the election on a Labor Day weekend with virtually no public discussion. He neglects to tell you that most people in Texas are not even aware of liability limitations.
I wish Senator McCain would tell me, How does that help the family that loses their mother or father because some asshole who isn't really qualified to perform surgery kills someone? How does that help the parents whose child was killed because some overworked unqualified intern in a public hospital gives an adult prescription of pain killer to a 8 year old child?
Don't use Texas as an example. Because in Texas we have 2 classes. One that can afford some of the best health care in the country via one of the best medicals centers in the country and the rest of us with nothing.
As usual, Senator McCain frames the issue to justify his and his party's stand of "JUST SAY NO!" AND LET US DIE!
Thank God, I live close enough to the border to go to Mexico whenever I need medicine or doctor's care. I can get an MRI for $200 versus $900+. I can see a doctor and get my prescription filled for under $30 and every doctor I see has been trained in the United States.
One last question, Senator McCain, is that if the US has the greatest health care in the country, why is it every year we have thousands of winter Texans from Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wyoming, South and North Dakota come to the valley and cross the border just to get a year's worth of medicine that they cannot afford in their home state. How come these people spend millions of dollars across the board for dental, optical, surgery, cancer treatment, and on and on because they can't afford their out of pocket costs from Medicare in their own states?
THIS IS THE REALITY SENATOR MCCAIN! Perhaps you should live in Texas for awhile and get a good dose of the truth in lieu of your usual slanted propaganda. Good grief!
