It's ok to denounce racial attacks against our president. But it's moronic to exaggerate the problem to the point of saying that "all [Presidents prior to Obama], without exception, were treated with the highest respect deserve to the office of the president of the United States," as a race-baiting diarist wrote yesterday.
Um, Republicans voted to impeach Clinton for lying about a blowjob, while 90-100% of Democrats in congress voted again. An overwhelming part of our population also saw it as moronic to impeach Clinton based on these grounds (uncover your eyes and see the polls).
Clinton was called a liar and a rapist. One congressman yelled "lie" during a speech by Obama and that's apparently proof that disrespect towards Obama is unprecedented.
I've read about Lincoln, and trust me. The wingnuts of that era disrespected him, likening him to a monkey and mocking his overall physical appearance. Oh, did I mention he got shot to death?
Kennedy was a communist, in the words of those on the right who hated him so much that killed him.
Many republicans bear racist attitudes against blacks. That's undeniable. but racism amounts to a tiny bit of the hatred, because wingnuts hate Democrats, period.
Powerful Republicans are funding the tea-bag movement and instigating animosity not because Obama is black, but because they want a pro-Business republican in charge. Neocons want Obama out because he's much more of a dove than an Republican president could be. Not because he's black.
Clinton was a rapist, the media said. Did he mention he was corrupt becuase he was guilty during whitewater? Did I mention he killed Vince Foster? Did I mention Maureen Dowd won a pullitzer by writing about blowjobs?
The media was more friendly to Obama (by far) than it was to Hillary. Was Hillary black? Was Obama white? No.
Drudge and company wanted Hillary out of the race. Once they saw that Obama was safe in the #1 spot, they pounced. Because wingnuts will go after the biggest Dem. at that point. The one they see as more of a threat.
Race-baiters are embarassing themselves. This type of attitude is what lead a Daily Kos diarist to lie during the 2008 primaries about Hillary Clinton having darkened a photo of Obama in order to exaggerate the race problem. The attempt at overplaying the race-card was so ridiculous that even Factcheck.org had to scold the diarists: http://www.factcheck.org/...
The race-baiting diarists were forced to apologize.
Race-baiters are clowns.
When they feel like they have no evidence whatsover to accuse someone of racism, they go all "unconscious" and Freudian on you. That's right. You can't see the racism because it's "unconscious." That way you can't disprove that person X is a racist.
