Considering that our Democratic Party has lost major elections in VA, NJ, and MA, I think Kos should change the focus of the front page. So many negative articles about the crazies is simply preaching to the choir--although--the polling on R insanity was necessary, even if uncomfortable.
The aim should shift to putting more pressure on the Dems--not only on the right wing Dems-- but on the liberal ones.
The disappointments of the last 12 months belong to us. The lack of WH direction on HCR, the surge in Afghanistan, the rehiring of Bernanke (and the hiring of Geithner). DADT only became an active issue this year--12 months were wasted on this form of segregation. The coddling and gifts to the banks and the insurers also hurt us--and our chances in elections. Democrats are supposed to be for the little man/woman--not the fat cats. Our economic policy has a trickle down ring to it--help the banks and they'll help the people. As usual, good things don't trickle down--urine does.
I've read enough Bachmann articles--she's batshit crazy--no surprise and an article front paged is not going to change her. Instead, an article on Senator Dodd's waffling on Bank reform needs to be exposed daily--we have some influence over him. Early on,Dkos got on Pelosi's case--and she has improved tremendously. Reid, not so much--but he does have the much harder job.
We should not sit back and give Obama a free ride. When he is weak, we need to scream--we need to have him respond to the left--to compromise with us--not with the hard core Republicans. His bipartisan deals should be between moderates and liberal Dems--no need to talk to inmates at the asylum. Americans voted last year against perceived Obama weakness, not against specific policies. America voted against a president's party that wasn't delivering "change."
On Election Day, 2008, we patted our backs about the gotv efforts and money we supplied. We took some credit for the victory--and we deserve some criticism for last year (lost year?). Push on our people--the aforementioned poll showed how nuts many Americans are. We need to push the smart, but weak kneed Dems. This is not a partisan issue, this is a patriotism one. What Reagan/Bush destroyed needs immediate fixing--not gradual patch jobs. Goldman Sachs has to be punished--broken up?-- not put into government jobs. We need to voice disapproval of our own--they read this site.
