This is the very reason I’m running for the U.S. Senate, Charles Grassley is out of touch with hard working Iowa families.
He just doesn’t get it. When this tax loophole was first created, he opposed an amendment that would have required offshore profits to be spent on U.S. job creation, research and development, capital investment or funding pension plans. Now he objects to closing it with nonsense about jobs it simply doesn't create.
I grew up in a family that moved from town to town in search of work. As the oldest of six kids, I went to work at 14 to help feed our family. I have been cold and hungry and I know what families across my state and our country are going through. I worked my way through college and law school and changed my circumstances with education scholarships and student loans. I will never forget those hardest hit by this economy, because I was one of them.
During the Bush years, while Charles Grassley oversaw the the Finance Committee he grew our nation’s debt by passing tax cuts for millionaires. He added $285 billion with the famous "Bridge to Nowhere" spending bill and gave $400 billion in hand outs to pharmaceutical companies. These are not my priorities. They do not reflect those of my friends, family and other Iowans. I hope you will join my campaign at www.RoxanneforIowa.com.
I'll be around to answer comments and questions for another 30 minutes or so - I’d love to hear your thoughts and reactions!
