WTF Blanche Lincoln?! Are you a wingnut?! Cuz, until now, I've only heard this crap coming out of the mouths of wingnuts.
I apologize if this was already diaried, but I didn't see it and this is too damn important to allow it to go unnoticed, and to allow Blanche Lincoln to get away with it.
On Tuesday, First Lady, Michelle Obama met with a bipartisan group of 6 lawmakers and 3 members of her husband's cabinet, all of whom play some role in health policy, to discuss her plans for a National Childhood Obesity Campaign which she will be launching in the coming days.
Mrs. Obama rightly believes that an integral part of this campaign will be improving the "food" that is served to our kids in school:
Revising federal child nutrition programs, including school lunches, will be a big part the initiative, she said, offering "an opportunity to impact more than 30 millions kids."
It is a shame that our children do not have access to healthy fresh food in our public schools and I'm thankful that we finally have someone like Mrs. Obama who wants to use her popularity and influence to advocate for change.
I'm so proud of what she has done with the White House garden. I truly believe that we will see the impact of the example she's setting for years to come. I already see it in my own community: there are community and backyard gardens springing up all over the place. Business is booming for local and organic farmers, and farmers' markets are more popular than ever. People are starting to pay more attention to the food they eat and that's a good thing.
Anyway, back to the meeting and the purpose of this diary.
As you've probably guessed by now, Senator Blanche Lincoln was one of the 6 lawmakers in attendance. After the meeting, the members of Congress and the Cabinet members held a press gaggle outside the White House to brief reporters on what was discussed at the meeting.
"Democratic" Senator, Blanche Lincoln, while she praised the First Lady's efforts
said tight budgets mean the government will need to "use what we have" rather than expect lots of additional money.
Not a surprising response considering her question to President Obama during his Q&A session with Senate Democrats.
What got me seeing red is this statement she recorded on demradio.senate.gov:
Healthier foods like whole grain fruits and vegetables tend to cost more than processed foods, and take more effort to prepare...
Excuse me?! WTF are you saying Blanche? Our kids don't deserve to each healthy foods? They're not worth it? Don't you realize that if we don't spend a little extra money NOW to ensure they get healthy foods, we'll be spending a lot MORE money LATER for their health care costs due to obesity related diseases like diabetes and heart disease?!
I don't know anything about your daddy who you claim was a "good" Democrat, but I know you are no good Democrat. You are NO DEMOCRAT.
Only wingnuts would think that America's kids don't deserve the best their country can give them, Ms. Lincoln. Only wingnuts are afflicted with this type of mentality.
Therefore, Blanche Lincoln, I cannot help but conclude that YOU ARE A WINGNUT, and we don't need the likes of you in the Democratic party. Go join the Republicans if you're going to espouse their beliefs, and leave the business of fixing the massive and numerous problems Republicans (who share your views) created to REAL Democrats who want REAL solutions.
