I'd just like to give a resounding round of huzzah's for the STONEWALL DEMOCRATS of NEW YORK CITY for sending Harold Ford, Jr. running with his tail between his legs.
While I'm sure many of us were salivating for a Ford run, lets take some joy in the fact that he was put down with ferocity. We know we will see Ford again unfortunately, but handing him yet ANOTHER political defeat was certainly enjoyable.
BIG MAD PROPS to kossacks devtob, Clarknt67, Adama D Brown, stef, MBNYC and others I am unfortunately forgetting who have been pressing the attack on Ford around here from day one.
And in case you missed the video:
Update:
I want to also extend thanks to John Cook and the whole team at Gawker who are now asking:
Where Will Harold Ford Take His Travelling Politics Show Next?
Harold Ford: Out. It is with great sadness we report that mediocre rich Tennessee person Harold Ford has pre-dropped out of the New York Senate race. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
From Clarknt67:
STONEWALL DEMOCRATS DESERVE NO CREDIT.
The protest was organized by a grass roots organization named The Power Online. They are NOT affiliated with the Stonewall Democrats, not anymore than MoveOn is with the Democratic party.
I make this distinction because I think it's important.
1. It would have been rude for Stonewall to invite him and then protest him. They did not do this.
2. It was WRONG for Stonewall to invite him in the first place. The obstensibly are tasked with looking out for LGBT interests in the Dem party. There was no cause for them to provide any sort of credibility to Ford as any sort of viable alternative to Gillibrand for voters interested in LGBT issues.
Please give the credit where the credit is due: To the Power Online Grassroots Activist who stood up for the rights and respect of LGBT voters, even if Stonewall Democrats could not.
Agree with everything said here. However, Stonewall did provide the platform and the forum which was sure to attract media attention that THe Power and organizations would not have been able to procure. Mainly because of Stonewall's famous name among the broader public.
