This is from a recent press release sent by the Nikki Haley for Governor campaign:
"Once again, leaders in the State House have elected to turn to the federal government to solve South Carolina’s problems – except this time the situation’s even worse: the almost $200 million they spent today hasn’t even been authorized by the feds. They have actually spent money that doesn’t yet exist."
May I ask you, Ms. Haley, who controls this state? Who has let the ball drop? Tell me exactly why the state leaders are turning to the federal government? Is it by choice? Are they happy? Sad? Mad?
No. They are Republicans, Ms. Haley. The same people you want to vote you in for governor. The same principles you signed to defend. You, Ms. Haley, represent the same status quo that has deprived this state for decades.
In some twisted way, they think the more you cut the better the state will become. Facts are hard to hide, aren't they. Kinda like that half-a-billion "budget hole" you all are looking at.
You know, we wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for the tax break after tax break after tax break after tax break... You get the point.
"The House is making a promise to those dependent on the Departments of Disabilities and Juvenile Justice based on money that hasn't been passed by Congress and hasn't been signed by President Obama. If that money doesn't show up – and there’s no assurance that it will – those South Carolinians will be left out in the cold. The smart thing for us to do is to go through the burn, prioritize our spending so as to take care of those needy families now, and not simply cross our fingers in hope that the Obama Administration comes through with yet another stimulus rainfall."
That's right. Go through the burn, you say. Poor choice of words, in my opinion. The burn? The people of this state have been burned beyond belief by Republicans. And you, Ms. Haley, want to represent the status quo.
Ms. Haley, South Carolinians have been left in the cold for a while now. Are you not realizing that? Do you think it's new? No, for decades the middle class has evaporated here. It's turned on its back. We now have to "pray" for jobs and sell out when something like Boeing comes along, then jump for joy as if that's our savior.
Please.
The smart thing to do is fix the tax system in this state and stop favoring the few over the majority.
Furthermore, if you'd like to respond to this I would be more than happy to publish your rebuttal in full. No edits.
How about it?
