I'm a liberal - a life-long liberal - who's had enough. Every goddamn Sunday morning I wake up to the same bullshit: Conservative media hosts allowing conservative commentators to blabber on incessantly and unchallenged about the most outrageous of lies. And every Sunday morning, some weak ass democrat gets up there and never sufficiently attacks anything that the other side says. This is a battle of words and the republicans are in lockstep in their attack strategy. Democrats have no strategy and look weak every single time.
The interview by Bret Baier with President Obama was the utmost of ugliest things, and the president looked weak and flustered. I hate it to my core to admit it, but he did. It is beyond me how democrats allow themselves to be positioned so low.
Bret Baier, a known conservative, employed three strategies that the president should have been prepared for (and what democrats should be prepared for before going on these shows).
- Talking fast: Bret sped up his speech so that the president would speed up his speech and because of that, the audience loses sight of everything. The president should have slowed down and controlled the conversation. How many people actually know and/or understand what's been said at the end of radio or TV commercials when the small print is read and it is read 3x's as fast as the commercial? No one. Baier used the same strategy.
- Cutting off the president. This strategy speaks for itself and the president handled it poorly. One, the president needs to demand the respect the office of the presidency demands. I understand that he is the type of person who doesn't mind the confrontation and he welcomes it, in fact. However, he has to recognize that he represents not only himself, but also the office of the presidency and that office demands the respect that he may not demand of himself. It's not all about you Mr. President, the people don't want their president pushed around by anyone.
- This strategy is one that you all should watch out for. It's a general strategy used by all media, as they're all conservative and use it all the time. This is what I call the opinion/attack strategy, where the host only asks conservatives their opinions on something rather challenging them on their policy or attacking their policy. They ask of their opinions so that the show serves as a platform for their ideas and those ideas nearly always goes unchallenged. This happens so often, I'm going to randomly choose Rudy Guiliani as an example: Of course you all remember when Guiliani stated that no terrorist attack occurred under president Bush"? It went unchallenged but because it was so outrageous he had to recant. Just an example.
On the other hand, they always challenge the liberal opinions and they always attack their policy. Here's a perfect example of opinion/attack strategy:
bottom line, democrats need to stand up and fight these lies, fight the media and throw everything they got at this. They need to challenge the media and demand they do their jobs. Democrats need to be prepared for all the tricks that are played by media and by republicans and they need to play a few tricks of their own. Get it together motherfuckers.
