After 382 days we arrive by horseback at the UN in New York city. We want to especially thank the police departments of New Jersey who were fantastic, the Port Authority and the NYPD. And we would also like to thank the hundreds of people who helped in every imaginable way, the Ride for Freedom. Across America by horseback for Akha Human Rights.
On Sunday afternoon I saddled up Hampton for the last time and headed for Newark, New Jersey. Soon what were common roads, turned into a fest of police cars. Escorting from one jurisdiction to the next. Before we knew it we were past midnight, headed for the Hudson. Paramedics, firemen, their wives, their girl friends, lined up at intersections, to take pictures. The word spread like wildfire on the scanners. By the time we got three quarters of the way across to New York City, Ray Charles "America" was playing on the police car PA system.
I walked my feet off. Hampton trotted beside me. Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and finally to the UN.
Kevin of Nobody's Business Farm and Horse Transport sent a truck special to whip us out of Central Park and and Hampton to retirement on a farm where he would wait for us in New Jersey till we head back to Oregon after the UNPFII in April is over.
Thanks to everyone who helped along the way.
