Let the logo voting begin! YIPPEE! All right, we've got about 8 or 9 entries, so I'll space out the voting over a few days. You have until the posting of the next day's diary to vote on logo entries. After a final round of voting among the entries receiving the most votes in the previous rounds, the "winner" will be revealed ONE WEEK FROM TONIGHT - APRIL 1 - during the 2 - year anniversary bash! Clear as mud? Goody gumdrops! :D
{insert drum roll here} Here are the first 2 diary logo entries!

Boy, do we have some birthday dillies today - including an opportunity for a rare THE CAKE double shot {hee...hee...hee...}! Believe me, when you see who the birthdays are for, the double - shot will be justified.
As a "shout out" to a good friend of mine, I'll note that author Flannery O'Connor was born on this date in 1925; he & his wife now live in her hometown - entirely too far away from me. :( He LOVES Flannery's stuff & tried to "recruit" me, but, man, her stuff is damn STRANGE.
OK, now for the THE CAKE "twofer" - and a palette cleanser at the end I promise! ;D "Singer" & orange peddler & hater Anita Bryant is 70 today; Senator John "Mom & Dad, can you pay off my mistress' family, please?" Ensign is 52. Talk about your gruesome twosomes... For the harm & hypocrisy that you've inflicted on so many in this country, please dive into each one of these cakes (you don't even have to share!) with the invitation to GO CHENEY YOURSELVES! Anita, just for you, you get it "non - missionary" position.
And, for the aforepromised palette cleansers, 2 truly iconic singers are celebrating birthdays today. Aretha Franklin is 68 today; Elton John is 63. Here's a message in song to all those threatening the safety of all the members of Congress for simply doing their jobs.
And, we all will CONTINUE to stand! Let's Countdown.
Lawrence O’Donnell, you are a beautiful man for helping Keith & the show these last weeks – thank you!
#5 "Tyranny of the Minority" AKA "Ill of the People" - Can you all sparkin’ believe what Rep. Eric "Canker Sore" Cantor said today?! It’s the DEMS fanning the flames of this hate & ugliness that has reared its ugly rear since Sunday, and it’s the DEMS using their troubles for political advantage. And, that little creative story about his office getting shot at was just pathetic; it’s like he was feeling left out on the hate, so he exaggerated about some yay – who that fired a gun straight into the air, and the bullet just happened to fall near his office – not some deliberate planned out attack that he made it out to be. JACKA$$!
A suspicious envelope with white powder was delivered to Rep. Anthony Weiner’s office in Queens; the FBI is on the case. More Reps are getting lovely messages on answering machines or voice mail; Rep. Andre Carson, my Representative, is on the list now, too. Rep. Harry Mitchell, one of St. Sarah from Wasilla’s targets, is getting death threats. Rep. Jean Schmidt got a lovely message, too; OK, that message wasn’t advocating violence. As far as I’m concerned, that guy just called it like he saw it; truth hurts, don’t it, honey! TurdBlossom doesn’t think the Dems should be talking about what they’re going through then proceeded to talk about his own "troubles."
Here’s Rep. Mitchell. Bless him for speaking out! Rep. Mitchell was a government teacher?! KEWL! He, again, had great words about the Capitol Police; they’re "good" & busy these days. Rep. Mitchell likes to talk with his hands. ;D Sorry, I just couldn’t help but notice it. We get Melissa Harris – Lacewell again tonight – YEA! OK, I gotta back up the DVR to get exactly right what Andrew Breitbart said:
Congressional black caucus members were searching for racism by walking through the tea party crowd.
O...M...Sparkin’...G... Here’s a picture Mr. Breitbart posed for after he said what he said.
Professor Harris – Lacewell thinks the GOP & the Dems are going to unite to smack down this ugliness?! Oh honey, Rep. Hoyer already extended that invitation, and he was declined. The GOP would rather accuse Dems of flame fanning.
#4 "Reconcile This" AKA "The Fix Is In" - Check out the unholy trinity that voted with the GOP today against the reconciliation package: Blanchie Lincoln (man, I want her to lose BADLY!), Mark Pryor, and Benny Nelson. Pryor’s not up again for re – election until 2014 – dammit! Benny’s not up again until 2012 – pooper scooper! Well, I hope people have long memories. "Gentleman," how does it feel to be on the wrong side of history?!
Hell, even Joementum voted "yes"! And, no, I didn’t listen to any of today’s activities; I just didn’t have the stomach for it. Feel free to lash me with a wet noodle in comments if you want. No one offered a public option amendment – not even Senator Sanders. Hm...yea...that letter really meant a lot, didn’t it. *&^%$#@! President Obama was in Iowa today cheering on HCR. Man, he just has too much fun doing this campaigning – type stuff! ;D Here’s Howard Fineman – great tie on Howard! The House is getting ready to vote on the re – reconciliation. Howard confirmed what many of us have felt for a long time; Rahm Emanuel killed the public option. JACKA$$!
#3 "Thanking the Staffers" AKA "The Kennedy Legacy" - Small Price to Pay Goldilocks called Congressional staffers "punks"?! Huh, I wonder how HIS staff feels about that. The Senate thanked their staffers today; well, that was nice & classy – REALLY classy! The Senate also honored Senator Ted Kennedy with a moment of silence.
#2 "Witness to History" - Marcelas Owens had the best seat in the house the other day when President Obama signed the HCR bill. I wonder what the hate – mongers will have to have to say about his appearance on the show tonight or the fact that he was at the signing the other day? SPARK THEM! Marcelas wants to be POTUS! OK! He’s 11 now, and you have to be 35 to be POTUS, so look for him in 24 years! MARCELAS OWENS IN 2034! ;D
#1 "Speaking (& Kicked) Out" - David Frum was shown the door at the American Enterprise Institute for just being too damn honest in claiming the GOP worked for FAUX News & such. Well, I don’t imagine he’ll be unemployed for long. Here’s David Corn! Maybe, he can put in a good word for Mr. Frum at Mother Jones. ;D The House has officially passed the reconciliation package!
