Read the following headline, byline, and actual survey wording from Rasmussen's email digest today, and see if you spot the intentionally misleading differences:
Headline: 53% Worry Obama's Policies Will Lead To Violence
Byline: Fifty-three percent (53%) of U.S. voters now are at least somewhat concerned that those opposed to President Obama's policies will resort to violence, up 10 points from last September.
Actual question wording in the survey: How concerned are you that those opposed to President Obama’s policies will resort to violence?
Meaning of the headline: People are concerned that Obama and his crazy policies are going to cause people to be violent.
Meaning of the byline/actual survey wording: People are concerned that some crazy people that oppose Obama's agenda are going to resort to violence.
It's sneaky tricks like this that make Rasmussen the slimy partisan firm that they are. Pollsters of all people, especially public ones, have a duty to be honest with the results that they report.
