Leave it to the neocon fascist wannabes to be ignorant of their history and thus to go after the wrong people in a laughably ironic attempt to burnish their own irredeemably soiled images.
If the right wing has gotten its knickers in a twist over the "Al Qaeda 7," just wait. What Liz Cheney and her stupid scummy sycophantic supporters fail to realize in their headlong rush to paint as traitors the DOJ attorneys who defended Gitmo detainees is that they are missing the much bigger picture:
What I am sure they have overlooked is the much more telling fact that not merely some low-level adminstration underlings, but the President of the United States HIMSELF defended foreign fighters who in the name of a belief system ABHORRENT to America KILLED virtually unarmed AMERICANS in front of SCORES OF WITNESSES on the streets of one of our great cities.
In fact, he even had the temerity to call his decision to defend these killers
"one of the most gallant, generous, manly, and disinterested actions of my whole life, and one of the best pieces of service I ever rendered my country."
In spite of that broadly unpopular stand, he went on to become one of this nation's greatest Founding Fathers and its second president.
Now, it may be that, even back in 1797, the former vice president's daughter might have made a pathetic attempt to besmirch the current president's reputation, hinting that he was a traitor for defending the rights of foreign fighters accused of killing Americans on American soil, desperate with the knowledge that compared to those who were prepared to take unpopular stands in defense of American values, the former vice president looked like the vilest form of pond scum.
But then again, back in 1797, John Adams didn't have to worry about a scummy former vice president - since he was the only "former vice president."
Oh - and there was no Fox News around to give air time to such mind-numbingly idiotic drivel.
