The Patriot Ledger, the newspaper of record for Quincy, Massachusetts is reporting that Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating will enter into the now open race for the 10th Congressional District in Massachusetts. Keating has a long record of public service and served as a state Senator for nearly two decades before becoming Norfolk County's DA. There are other candidates that are expected to run to on both sides of the aisle. Follow me after the fold for more.
Norfolk District Attorney William Keating of Sharon plans to run for Congress now that U.S. Rep. William Delahunt has announced his plans to retire. He is the first Democrat in the race.
"He's definitely getting into the fight,'' said Michael Goldman, a spokesman for Keating. `"Within a week to 10 days, he'll be announcing.''
Keating served in the Legislature for 22 years before becoming district attorney in 1999.
Robert O'Leary a State Senator from Barnstable is also looking to run and two Republicans, former Treasurer Joe Malone and State Rep. Jeff Perry of Sandwich are also planning to run.
