Marina Hyde draws your attention to her favourite story of the Oscars build-up thus far - Sarah Palin and entourage going rogue in a gifting suite...
Well, they're almost upon us. The 82nd Annual Academy Awards - the Oscars of the movie industry - are mere scores of hours away.
Lost in Showbiz will naturally be watching the notoriously succinct ceremony all through Sunday night, in order to give you a sleep-deprived, hungover account for Tuesday's paper. I know! In terms of raw, reactive immediacy, it's a bit like contributing to a quarterly defence periodical. I'm hoping to imbue observations like "OMG what was Taylor Lautner doing presenting an award?!?!?!?!" with that long view quality.
Anyhow, in the meantime, might I just draw your attention to my favourite story of the build-up thus far - Sarah Palin and entourage going rogue in a gifting suite.
Various news outlets handle the erstwhile vice presidential candidate's tour round one of the Aladdin's caves nominees and dignitaries are invited to visit in the days before the awards - and by most accounts Sarah disported herself in the manner of Elgin at the Acropolis.
The best round-up comes via the New York Daily News. Sarah Palin and her entourage descended "like locusts" on the Oscar swag suite, it begins, "scarfing up freebies in a binge that 'practically cleaned the place out.'"
