Sorry to the the Bay Staters here who think I'm talking about them. No, I'm talking about our friend/enemy Eric Massa, announcing his resignation from Congress and then going on talk radio to chew out Rahm Emanuel. Now, it's my turn to return the favor.
I'll admit, before this scandal, I had no clue who this guy was. He's a first-termer in Congress, so he didn't have the national name recognition that some representatives do. From his Wikipedia page, he seems like a pretty loyal Democrat. He supported the stimulus act. He told an audience that Chuck Grassley's "death panel" statement was "an act of treason". He voted against the health care bill because he specifically wanted a single-payer system. From what it sounds like, he was a voice we could trust in the House.
But now, Massa has done a complete 180. He goes on the radio and makes claims that are, at best, absolutely ridiculous. I laugh at the fact he said he would be the deciding vote on health care. Mr. Massa, there is no one person who will decide the fate of health care in this nation. There are certain groups we have to worry about, such as Stupak and his followers, but you are vastly overestimating your importance. You are no more important than my congressman when it comes to the final vote. You are full of yourself, and you don't know when to stop.
Mr. Massa goes on to say that he was forced out by Emanuel and other Democratic leaders so that they could pass reform. As Judge Judy might say, "Baloney!". You said you resigned because of a recurrence of cancer, and I believed you. Then we found out about the ethics investigation. Regardless of whether the claims of sexual harassment were true or not, it looks bad for Democrats. And obviously, the right begins attacking you. (My personal favorite: Hannity called Massa the Democrats' Mark Foley).
So now, Mr. Massa, you realize you're going to get beat up for days by the conservative media. What do you do? You give them what they want! Republicans desperately want to believe that there is huge amounts of corruption in the Obama White House, and they'll take anyone who has any sort of "evidence" to back them up. So you decide to save your own behind by offering them accusations they'll swallow too easily. And now, they absolutely love you! You're the kind of whistleblower who is ready to share the dark secrets of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid's Socialist utopia.
Mr. Massa, you are unfit to be a Democrat. You are an attention hog who will do and say anything to keep up your 15 minutes of fame. I am glad you are out of Congress, and wish you good luck in your future endeavours in the Republican Party.
