I've never been a good April Fool's Day player. I always forget about the day until it arrives, thus making it impossible to set up good pranks. And while I love a good prank, my sense of humor seems only to recognize them, not think of them! So I am a sideliner, not a Fool, most years...
I think I'm supposed to regale you now with "But not this year...." Which is exactly why... I'm not :-). Nope, I had a routine day, got stuff done around the house, worked with K2 on his preschool workbooks to get him ready for kindergarten, and took him to the pool for his first swimming lesson. That was the highlight of our day; turns out he's the only kid signed up for the "parent and child" class, and the instructor is one of K1's coaches, so for the next four weeks we've got private lessons! He had a blast, and by the end of his first half hour he was paddling around the pool with a bubble on. All in all a very good day.
But today is April Fool's Day, and I felt obliged to find something, so off I went to Teh Intertubez. First site I clicked on was tagged April Fool's, subtitled What Happens When Graphic Artists Get Bored. They may have been, but I certainly wasn't!
Have some music by a truly great band, The Fools! As they say... Life Sucks and Then You Die.
Because we're all about the learning I ended my wanderings with a trip to Wikipedia, where I discovered the earliest mention of April Foolishness is in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. Wiki's also got a great list of famous pranks of the past, so check it out!
