A federal judge today in Madison, Wisconsin issued a 66-page opinion declaring unconstitutional the legislation creating the National Day of Prayer.

In Her Honor's own words:
"However, recognizing the importance of prayer to many people does not mean that the government may enact a statute in support of it, any more than the government may encourage citizens to fast during the month of Ramadan, attend a synagogue, purify themselves in a sweat lodge or practice rune magic."
This will likely impact the confirmation of a new Justice to the Supreme Court. Between the Health Insurance Reform legislation and this National Day of Prayer decision, the confirmation hearing will provide plenty of opportunity for Republican antics for the cameras and the base. And, imagine how much money the right-wing noise machine will be able to raise between now and the confirmation hearings on the basis of these two issues.
