Once there were several Snakes who could talk. These are related to the one mentioned in Genesis, but are even more devious.
Before we go any further, I want to let everyone know that I have no aversion to, and actually like very much, real snakes. They are extremely useful reptiles, and keep the rodent population at an acceptable level. Without real snakes, our ecology would be quite less tolerable. The former Mrs. Translator has one in the classroom (not a venomous one) and we together kept a Ball Python until he became too big for safe handling, so we donated Kaa to a university. Please in no way think that I personally dislike snakes, except for the metaphorical ones.
These Snakes all lived in a common pit, or visited others who did live there, on a regular basis. These Snakes have coexisted with humans for aeons, and now and then begin an effort to be heard. The first one was a smooth talker, and Eve was smitten with his ideas. Like many folks, she was easily led astray by smooth talking.
At first, the talking Snakes just used word of mouth to get their deceptive message to humans. This happened for many centuries, until the telephone, the radio, and the television were commonly used. Now, talking to only one or two humans at a time is not very profitable for a Snake, although the conversation with Eve was extremely profitable.
You see, Snakes have the desire for anyone listening to them to mindlessly agree with the Snake's position. I do not know why; that is just what Snakes do, and revel in it. If they can profit from it, so much the better.
In North America, there are several species. One of the old ones has the scientific name of Paternis coughlineos, a very treacherous Snake. Fortunately, that species is now extinct. Other extinct North American species include Senatorius mccarthius, Nixonia noxosia, and Regania idiocata, with many other lesser known species beyond the scope of this work.
However, there are many species that are still extant and a threat to humanity. Most of them have a common home, one abandoned by a Fox many years ago. They live and breed in the hole from the Fox, and even ones who are well removed have a telepathic link to the others, because they all say the same think to whoever will listen.
Most of them are in the order Murdochacae, and the most common genera is the Ailesacae. These are treacherous Snakes. There are a few unrelated species who display the same tendencies, particularly the extremely dangerous members of the genus Limbaughiga, distantly related to the Ailesace, but distinct. There are two species of that genus, specifically L. rushia (the more intelligent one) and L. davidicus, a very stupid species who only has listeners because the rushia species demands it.
Now, the Ailesacae have several species, some native to the original Fox den, and some who just use them for a Snake voice. The most common, and dangerous, ones are A. oreillicus, a very pernicious Snake that, fortunately, only comes out in the open for one hour per day. The others are A. hannatius, a diurnal creature that comes out in the afternoon for several hours, then crawls back into the old hole left by the Fox, only to return later for about another hour. This Snake is very verbose, and seems not to listen to himself more than any other.
By far the worst creature is A. beckicus, a Snake who is the worst at covering lies with even a modicum of truth. This species attempts to cover its lies by holding a Bible and being wrapped with a US flag. This species is pernicious, and must be avoided at all costs.
It turns out that several other species support this evil order. This is not often seen in lower lifeforms, but it very obvious in this case. Several species that exude the metal gold are in league with them to assist them sell the gold that they exude for other things of value, with the witless listeners believing that they are getting the better part of the deal. I will not try to name those species, because they are very diverse.
There are also several minor species related to, but not identified with the Ailesacae, but associated with them often. One is Malkinus vulgare, an extremely annoying species. This species is very verbose, but hardly ever has anything valuable to say, unlike the Snakes. This species is more slug like.
Another is Rovus karlus, a Snake with thinning scales, and nothing but a booming Snake voice to its credit. This species used to be formidable, but now has become sterile. There is not any danger from it at present, and looks like it will die off naturally in future.
Finally, and there are many more species, but this is getting too long, there is a salamander, family unknown (it appears that there were several) called Newtus gringichii. This is a horrible creature! It looks innocuous, but probably is the most evil creature to evolve in the past three or four decades. Unlike many creatures, it is polygamous, and will even abandon its mate whilst the mate is dying for a new one. This creature is not as advanced as a Snake, but carries all of the negative features of them, with some negative ones in addition. Avoid listening to this beast at all costs.
Well, that is it. I hope you liked my attempt at fable.
Warmest regards,
The Doctor
