Being absolutely appalled at the racist anti-latino law signed by Arizona's gutless joke of a Governor Jan Brewer, I was thinking of creative ways to get the message of disgust across to the xenophobic trogs who inhabit this amazingly backward state.
Refusing to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and refusing to present the President of the United States with an honorary degree at ASU pale in contrast to passing a law making Arizona a police state in which brown people are now rendered third class citizens who may be subjected to arbitrary and capricious police harassment every time they drive a motor vehicle. A tourist boycott is the first and most viable form of protest, but what would be even better would be if the latino players on every major league baseball team were to simply say we are not playing in Arizona. The major leagues are now one-third latino and everyone of them are subject to this despicable law once they cross the racist borders of Arizona. Since I live in Northern California, I am calling the offices of the San Francisco Giants (they could field an almost all latino lineup on any given night) tomorrow and suggesting that they do just that. Refuse to play in Arizona until this law is taken off the books. Let the Diamondbacks play on the road for the rest of the year! If there's a major league team near you do the same and call into the sports talk radio stations and suggest the same.
