I've got something that you're going to buy.
I know, I know; you don't really want it. But you are going to buy it anyway, whether you like it or not. Expensive? Sure, but it doesn't matter, because no matter how expensive it is, you're going to buy it.
And you know what the best part of it is? Even though you're going to be forced to buy it, it's the last thing you'll ever want to use. You don't want in your house, you don't want in your county, you don't want it at all, because if you ever have to use it you'll kill hundreds of thousands of people, maybe millions, maybe even everybody you know and love.
That's the best part of this deal; even though you don't want it, even though it could kill you and your family and everyone you know, you have to buy it whether you want it or not.
Follow me below the fold to find out what a great deal you're getting!
Nuclear weapons; aren't they great! They're really good business for the people that make them, and for the people that maintain them, and for the people that sell them. They're the ultimate commodity, because everyone has to buy them, especially if you're a taxpayer, and then they just sit there and rust, hopefully, and then they get replaced. For a price. Which you pay. Whether you like it or not.
Do they defend you? That depends on how you look at it. President Obama is trying to get rid of as many as he can, and rightly. Maybe other nations will cooperate with us and get rid of some of these weapons, because we here in the United States have enough to kill everybody in the world about 10 times over. Russia has about that many too. Other countries have them, including France, Great Britain, China, India, Pakistan, and North Korea. It is widely believed that Israel has nuclear weapons, between 80 and 200 of them, but they prefer to follow a policy of "ambiguity", which means that they ain't telling if they've got them or not.

do you feel reassured? Do you feel safer? Do you sleep better at night knowing that there's nuclear weapons just waiting to be launched? Because they're there. Have no doubt that they are there, just waiting, deadly, horrible, both in cost and in effect.
in Japan, there are people called Hibakusha. They are survivors of the bombs we dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
As of March 31, 2009[update], 235,569 hibakusha were recognized by the Japanese government, most living in Japan.

I wouldn't want to have to spoil anybody's day by showing you some photographs of the results Of the detonation of a nuclear weapon, so I want to warn you that some of the images at the following site are a little graphic; well, perhaps more than a little, so you may not want to go to this site if you just had breakfast, or lunch, or dinner, or even on an empty stomach.

This is what you, and I, and every taxpayer in the United States is buying. Whether we like it or not. If you like it, be happy; business is great. If you don't like it, it doesn't matter; business is still great.
Pres. Obama is trying to lower the number of nuclear weapons in the world. As you may have guessed by now, I think it's a great idea. I don't know if we'll be rid of them in my lifetime, or even in yours. If I could wave a magic wand and make them all disappear, I would. Don't think I haven't thought of it. I would love to have the kind of godlike powers that would enable me to snap my fingers and have every nuclear weapon disappear from the face of the earth. If one of you has the powers, do the world a favor; snap your fingers. Until you do, have a nice day.
Oh, and as a parting gesture I always send people to this site, for a bit of sobering information; at least I find it sobering, especially since it's way underestimated; I especially like that nine at the front of the number, the nine that is soon going to change into a 10, paid for by you and me. Goldman Sachs aren't the only ones robbing us; we're doing it pretty well just by ourselves.

Go there. Go to that site and see for yourself.
I'm asking, no, I'm begging for people not to derail any conversation that happens here into any other subject than exactly what I've talked about here. Don't be afraid of it; it's a reality that we all have to deal with.
