I see in Wired magazine that the US Army is interested in what bloggers are saying, and are surprisingly open-minded about left-leaning blogs, from Kos to Huffington Post.

Every week, the defense contractor MPRI prepares for the brass a "Blogosphere and Social Media Report," rounding up sites’ posts on military matters.
The reports are for top officers to catch up on what social media sites are saying, and a number of left-leaning blogs have been rated 'balanced,' even when the stories were critical of the military. Stories on the Wikileaks video of the 2007 attack on unarmed Iraqi men and reporters and on the night-time raid where three women were shot and then had the bullets dug out of their bodies to cover it up were marked 'balanced,' probably because the stories tended to cover the facts, which were hard to dispute.
I am not so surprised at the number of progressive blogs and bloggers who were found 'balanced,' because that is the hallmark, I think, of liberals and progressives. We tend to try to see both sides, and have a strong sense of duty to present facts, even when we have strong opinions about the facts. In fact, it seems to me that liberal blogs are sort of a Snopes.com with opinions.
So the question is, is the US military beginning to tire of right-whinger sites where the factual content is minimal, or what?
