US Special Forces "accidentally" kill three Afghan women, dig bullets out of bodies to cover up crime?
I came across this story via the headline on HuffPo.
http://www.nytimes.com/...
What disturbs me is I had already visited the NY Times website and had not noticed the story. It is page one - page one of the Times' Asia-Pacific section.
In February, US Special Forces raided a home killing three Afghan mothers, two of them pregant, and all of whom had gathered there to celebrate the birth of a baby. The soldiers involved then removed bullets from the bodies of the women and the walls of the whom to cover up their involvement, and asserted the women had been stabbed to death prior to the raid. US military officials then denied the women were victims of the US raid.
This should be on the front page, not buried in the Asia Pacific section of the paper. And there is nothing "accidental" about innocent people being killed when armed forces raid and shoot into an occupied house. The intent is to kill.
We need to leave Afghanistan. I have no idea what the Hell we are trying to accomplish there but I know I am sick to death of reading about the killing of innocent people by our armed forces. Even Gen McChrystal recently noted the "amazing" number of non-threatening Afghans killed by US military. Obama's stepped up use of predator drones and ramping up of this war is a disgrace.
This is not the "good" war, it is insanity.
