But Marijuana is the only thing on this planet, no, universe, that will not kill you.
In fact, it is widely known for its medicinal value, and in some cases Marijuana is better than most prescription drugs.
But don't tell our government that though, don't want them to go to war against a plant . . . wait.
Did they learn anything from Alcohol Prohibition?
So naturally, since humans are so destructive in nature, the one thing on this planet that can not kill you is illegal in the most powerful country in the world. Maybe because of the influence Big Tobacco has over Congress, but do they also have a hold over Barack Obama?
Has he stopped smoking yet? Cigarettes legally kill over 400,000 people a year.
It gets a little irritating when somebody who is so intelligent and knows better, still can't face a question about Marijuana legalization. Everybody who supports either medical, recreational marijuana, or even hemp remembers when the President didn't take it so seriously.
"The answer is, no, I don't think that is a good strategy to grow our economy," the president said. His answer prompted applause from the audience.
(White House press secretary Robert Gibbs later clarified Mr. Obama's position: "The president opposes the legalization of marijuana...he does not think that's the right plan for America."
Jack Cole, executive director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, emails this statement: "Despite the president's flippant comments today, the grievous harms of marijuana prohibition are no laughing matter. Certainly, the 800,000 people arrested last year on marijuana charges find nothing funny about it, nor do the millions of Americans struggling in this sluggish economy. It would be an enormous economic stimulus if we stopped wasting so much money arresting and locking people up for nonviolent drug offenses and instead brought in new tax revenue from legal sales, just as we did when ended alcohol prohibition 75 years ago during the Great Depression."

The one argument against Marijuana legalization is that now is not the time politically. But when you think about it, anything Barack Obama does isn't the time for it. Accept a Republican idea and they turn against him without batting an eye, so he's finally realized he should just do what he knows is right.
Yeah . . . right.
What is right is cutting off the main source of the Mexican drug cartels income, as the violence spills into American communities.
What is right is releasing every non-violent criminal from our over crowded, for-profit prisons. Can you imagine being arrested for having a bag of weed, and your cellmate is a rapist?
What is right is ending a decades old war on American citizens who want to alter their minds.
What is right is educating our society on the pros and cons of Marijuana, because as more and more people realize it isn't the evil, devil drug from the "Reefer Madness" era . . .
More and more people will stop trying to compare and tie Marijuana to meth, or heroin and cocaine, or even tobacco.
Speaking of tobacco:
Cannabinoids, constituents of marijuana smoke, have been recognized to have potential antitumor properties. However, the epidemiologic evidence addressing the relationship between marijuana use and the induction of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is inconsistent and conflicting.
After adjusting for potential confounders (including smoking and alcohol drinking), 10 to 20 years of marijuana use was associated with a significantly reduced risk of HNSCC [odds ratio (OR)10-<20 years versus never users, 0.38; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.22-0.67]. Among marijuana users moderate weekly use was associated with reduced risk (OR0.5-<1.5 times versus <0.5 time, 0.52; 95% CI, 0.32-0.85). The magnitude of reduced risk was more pronounced for those who started use at an older age (OR15-<20 years versus never users, 0.53; 95% CI, 0.30-0.95; OR≥20 years versus never users, 0.39; 95% CI, 0.17-0.90; Ptrend < 0.001).</p>
Our study suggests that moderate marijuana use is associated with reduced risk of HNSCC.
