Despite previous denials to do so by other former Governors of the state of Virginia, Governor Bob McDonnell has declared that April is "Confederate History Month".
Worse, he doesn't even mention slavery in his proclamation.
Bob McDonnell and Confederate History Month
Okay so let's see. Governor McDonnell has declared gay and lesbians "persona non grata" within his state for employment purposes. He's given an executive directive to retract that, though that's akin to saying "Please don't fire gay and lesbians".
His attorney general, and fellow nutbag has sued the federal government for everything under the sun including healthcare reform and epa. Coming soon: Financial Reform.
However, this just takes the cake. I mean wow:
This year's proclamation was requested by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A representative of the group said the group has known since it interviewed McDonnell when he was running for attorney general in 2005 that he was likely to respond differently than Warner or Kaine.
"We've known for quite some time we had a good opportunity should he ascend the governorship," Brandon Dorsey said. "We basically decided to bide our time and wait until we had more favorable politicians in Richmond."
Dorsey said the governor's stamp of approval would help the group publicize the month and aide tourism efforts in the state.
When are Virginians going to learn, it's quite evident that despite Bob McDonnell's statements, he didn't actually plan to run Virginia on a platform to promote jobs.
