You know what I did yesterday?
I stopped in at most of the places on my my blog bar:
Talking Points Memo
Kos
Alicublog (Roy Edroso)
Balloon Juice
Sadly, No!
TBogg
Doghouse Riley (Bats Left/Throws Right)
No More Mister Nice Blog
Atrios
Digby
BAGNewsNotes
Lawyers, Guns and Money
Kevin Drum
AND I read the comments. AND I commented myself.
I just kept hopping from site to site, post to post, and when I got to the end of the list, it was time to go through them all again to see if there was something new. UT. TER. LY. RI. DIC. U. LOUS. But I couldn't stop myself. "Just one more, then I'll get up and do something...."
I also got myself into hanky-fanning territory several times about the State of the Nation and the dickiness of the rightwing, hence the incontinent commenting. Although it does help when the mocky sites and their fabulous commenters get me to laugh about their (minuscule) dicks from time to time, the bottom line is that at my age, I really shouldn't be messing with my blood pressure like that all day, every day.
But the most critical issue for me at the moment is the "where did it all go?" time suck. The only other things I did yesterday:
Ate some cereal
Took the dogs out, gave them their meds
Read a magazine and watched birds while sitting in the porch swing
Did financial paperwork
Heated some soup for lunch
Did some pointless filing of papers I'll NEVER look at again.
Took the dogs out
Decided what should be done in the garden while sitting in the porch swing
Watched a little TV
Cut some herbs
Sliced some tomatoes
Made some garlic bread
Put a Schwan's pasta tray in the microwave
Ate with my husband. Both of us with laptops nearby, comparing notes on the disaster in the Gulf.
That's it. That is all I got "accomplished" in between blog surfing. Here are a few things I did NOT do yesterday:
Anything at all on my major creative projects
Clean up the herb bed
Refill the bird feeders
Look at recipes/write menus
Exercise
Groom the dogs
Update my own blog
Organize my sewing room
Write my book (any of them)
Take photos for an Etsy store
Etc.
I GOTTA GET OFF THE INTERNET.
I admit that I am powerless over blogs. My life has become unmanageable. So....I'm going to quit today. Cold turkey. As soon as I'm finished with this diary. But it's not really a GBCW. Since I cannot face the idea of leaving forever, I'm just going to see if I can stand to stay away for a few months. Say, til Labor Day. Wish me luck.
I won't be back for comments, of course. Love y'all, but.
