I just hung up (well, now it was an hour ago) on a pollster answering questions about the upcoming race for Oregon governor (between former governor John Kitzhaber & Republican ex-NBA player Chris Dudley), which started as a normal polling survey but grew increasingly suspicious as I was asked my opinion about positive qualities of Dudley & negative ones of Kitzhaber. After 15 minutes, I was suspicious of the aim of this poll, asked who was paying for this poll: the researcher did not know. I then told her that unless I knew that, because this sounded like a push-poll I was ending the conversation. She asked me to reconsider & pleaded for me to continue to answer her questions, but I rang off.
I would have posted this over at Blue Oregon, but to post there now one needs a Facebook account -- which I refuse to be part of -- & I couldn't find contact information there to email them about this. I also would have added a lot more useful details (e.g., caller id reported that it came from "address unknown, phone number unknown"), but since the incident & now I've been hit with a lot of chores & my 2-year-old managed to spill her juice on the floor twice in the intervening time. I'll try to get back later to provide details & answer any questions.
