File this under, "Yes, this man was our president."
A friend (a conservative Republican friend, BTW) just came back from the WindPower Expo in Dallas where former President George W. Bush, of all people, was scheduled to give the keynote today.
My buddy talked to an industry analyst there who actually attended a wedding this past weekend that included W on the guest list.
Well, according to her, the way things worked out, W actually sat down next to her at the table.
They started talking about the WindPower show. According to the analyst, W told her he still wasn't sure what he was going to say with the show just days away. He did know he wanted to stay away from controversy of any kind. He said that he really liked his private life now but the show had offered him $100,000 for the speaking engagement, so he couldn't refuse.
For me, if true, and there's no reason to believe it isn't, it just confirms every thought I ever had about this feckless, irresponsible, moronic excuse for a man.
Some points I got out of this story:
o He doesn't care nor know much about the subject matter somebody's paying him big bucks to know. (Yes, I know Texas leads the country in wind power installations and W presided over some early incentives for it as governor. That "expertise" disappeared as president).
o He will let people believe he knows something for his own personal gain, never mind the fraud in it, as was his political campaigns.
o He has no basic moral compass or even work ethic to get up to speed and actually give a speech somewhere approaching the value of the speaking fee.
o He has no problem being connected to renewable energy when there's personal gain but essentially ignored it as president.
o He's an intellectual midget with no curiosity or interest in improving the status quo for anybody or anything.
This was our president. The Gulf oil leak doesn't seem so shocking after hearing this. It's W's parting gift as a for-hire, do-nothing, know-nothing eejit with a family name and deep pockets.
And the Republicans want to double down on stupid with the likes of Sarah Palin and Rand Paul.
