Did you check out Matthew Dowd on This Week call for a government take over of private industry?
http://abcnews.go.com/...
Dowd talks as if the government was responsible for spilling oil in the Gulf. And that he federal government should have had deep sea robots to cap a oil well gushing at 5000 ft below sea level?
He talks about the context of what happened in West Virginia mines..."Who is accountable? We cannot trust the government to do anything we need them to do. Who is in charge"?
Now his attitude is that the government should be "in charge" when private industry like oil or coal are taking risk with Americans lives and livelihoods. After his administration had lived by the mantra, free markets will take care of bad players and basically police themselves. The right has been beating the drum on limiting the role of government, right? Big government, intrusive especially in private industry is bad, right; And letting the industries right the laws and rules.
Oh, but now we must blame government for not doing anything right...when the right has told us all along that government is the problem and that corporations, business and private industry are the ones that always get it right. Oops! what happened...business has screwed up. The miners, the oil companies, Wall Street and bankers are all private success stories when they are making the money but when the shit hits the fan, we need to socialize the failures, now government is somehow at fault.
We now have a theme building here that private industry more than often screws things up but the right wants to privatize the gains and socialize the screw ups. So this talk of stopping President Obama's socialism march is a farce on it's face.
