Appealing to the right wing blogosphere is a dangerous act.
If you follow entertainment news, you may have heard of the passing of actor Dennis Hopper. Many of the tributes come from the right wing of the blogosphere. They may disdain celebrities who speak about politics without expertise, but this is momentarily suspended for celebrities who say the right things.
Sometimes this is only momentary, and many have discovered the danger of riding the tiger when someone else played 'righter than thou'. Dennis Hopper didn't trust Palin and voted for Obama. I imagine those who truly respected Dennis Hopper would pause for thought, even if they ultimately decided they were disappointed in him.
It is not quite that way among the 'wiseguys' of Protein Wisdom:
Apparently he did vote for Obama though...and then he got cancer and died.
I don't imagine this little gem will appreciably disturb his family and friends, or even that they will read it. Let those who hope to profit from the support of the rightosphere remember what a fickle thing it is, and let nobody else be disturbed.
I hope that those clever enough to ride the wave are also smart enough to know when to get off, and perhaps even idealistic enough to tell their former backers where to get off. I'm not sure about Scott Brown, but it seems his claims to be independent concealed a determination to be independent - and the Tea Party isn't the only one surprised. That doesn't make him a good legislator, but it's a start.
