Senatorial candidate Carly Fiorina's words, "So Yesterday!", were captured just one day after she won the Republican primary in California. She was waiting for the cameras to roll before an interview. She was mocking her opponent-to-be Barbara Boxer's hair styling when Barbara was on TV the evening before, also having won her own primary for California senatorial nomination, but on the Democratic side. Evidently Carly did not realize her mike was alive.
I think that Barbara Boxer should make frequent use of those words in sound bites. She should use them in many different ways throughout the fall campaign. Whenever Carly aligns herself with the "party of no" or pumps out a conservative theme calling for a return to American life as it was before and during the roaring twenties, yearns for the days of the "robber barons", or just tries to solve every problem with tax cuts which but benefit the rich and/or are not paid for, Barbara should hit her hard with those words: "... So Yesterday!"
Here are a few examples:
We just had eight years of unpaid for tax-cuts aimed at rich people like her. Look what that did to our economy! Now Carly wants more of the same! ... So Yesterday!
Now Carly says she wants to repeal the new Health Care Reform law that forbids insurance companies from canceling insurance policies when someone gets sick, or prevents them from denying insurance to those who previously were sick! ... So Yesterday!
When Carly was running HP into the ground she outsourced X number of jobs overseas. Now she wants to preserve the tax breaks that Republicans awarded to all those large international corporations; the ones that actually did the outsourcing! ... So Yesterday!
Research this to determine the value of X.
When Carly was dismissed with a golden parachute by the BOD of Hewlett Packard the market value of HP's stock had fallen to one half what it was when she was hired, just five years earlier. Now she wants us, the people of California, to hire her! -- this time to the Senate --the BOD of the United States! ... So Yesterday!
During a radio interview on September 15, 2008, Carly stated that Palin lacks the experience to run a major company like Hewlett-Packard. "But that's not what she's running for -- Running a corporation is a different set of things!" Carly said.
Now Carly wants to convince us that her having run a large corporation like HP, [into the ground], gives her exactly the experience she needs to be a good senator representing ordinary Californians, as opposed to corporations, in Washington DC. ... So Yesterday!
The Los Angeles Times research of public records indicated Fiorina had failed to vote in most elections. Now she wants all California voters to be sure to go to the polls and vote for her! ... So Yesterday!
Fiorina has called climate change a "serious issue" but claims that the science surrounding global warming is inconclusive, saying "I think we should have the courage to examine the science on an ongoing basis." ... So Yesterday!
That's enough for starters, I think. There will be many more, as the campaign gets into gear. As I find others in the comments and I feel they are good candidates for campaign adds I'll update this and give credit to the authors.
