I am donating my diary today on behalf of Amy Storey, who is in the running for a scholarship for Netroots Nation. Why should you cast a vote for this Los Alamos, New Mexico Progressive who doorbells with her young son?
Follow me below to learn why!
Amy Rose Storey is a true progressive who donates hours, weeks and months on behalf of progressive candidates in New Mexico. Los Alamos is a conservative town--she and several neighbors had their car tires slashed, and her son observed that all the cars that were damaged had Obama For President stickers on them.
Amy is not as well known as others here who have extensive lists of diaries, which makes it more challenging for her to garner votes, yet she is already in the top 10 group of vote recipients! She needs your support to help put her over the top to receive her scholarship.
Let Amy tell you a little bit about herself:
I am a passionate Democrat who has been volunteering for the Left for 20 years. It started in college, when I marched on the streets of Salt Lake City, Utah for the E.R.A. in front of Orrin Hatch's office. It continued when I moved to California and donated time to Barbara Boxer's campaign. I joined a comedy group called the Riot Act, and we took our liberal-leaning show on a tour of the nation's universities. After that, I worked as a radio host on KLCE 97.3FM, and learned the radio business. Moved to New Mexico, and I was a Team Leader on the Obama Campaign..... I just finished a 6 month stint as a volunteer for the primary campaign for a State House Seat for Stephanie Richard. And we won that one too!
Amy homeschools her youngest son, Nick, and he has gotten a hands-on education on how important it is to be involved in his community. Only 9 years old, he is an enthusiastic Progressive in the making, and is quite articulate about why people should vote for "his" candidate.
More from Amy:
I recently attended the Camp Wellstone weekend in Albuquerque. That course stimulated my interest in lifelong work in the media aspects of campaigns. With my background in radio and public speaking, I hope to help shape the message of Democrats. I attended the First NetRoots Convention in Las Vegas on my own dime, but my funding went to the dentist this year.(!) My favorite class that year was with George Lakoff on language and perceptions. To have the opportunity to go again, and share the energy of my fellow activists, would be a dream come true! I would take the skills that I learn there and put them to work for the betterment of Democrats, for the rest of my life.
I encourage all my fellow Kossacks to go to Amy Storey's link ahd show your support by giving her a vote!
Thanks!!
