Chris Cillizza ran a piece in The Fix about the Etheridge gaffe and reminded those of us in Minnesota of an important point. No matter how badly we'd like to defeat certain members of Congress (or Senators), we really should be putting our money we can win. For those of us in the Gopher State, we need to take some of the millions that will go into CD 6 to beat Bachmann and send the money where it will do some good - CD 3, to Jim Meffert running against Erik Paulsen.
Michele Bachmann's insane comments are so numerous, I need not repeat them. But her voting record is as important as anything else, and Erik Paulsen, the freshman rep just to her southwest votes the same way 94% of the time (give or take). We all saw the flood of money to El Tinklenberg just before the 2008 election following the "unamerican" comments. And we saw her win by wide margins in a great year for Democrats.
CD 6 has a PVI of R+7.
CD 3 is even. Obama won it with 53%, and Paulsen pulled in 48.5% in a three way race.
I think we should contest CD 6, but I think that some of that money would be well spent on Jim Meffert in CD 3.
