Neda Algha Soltan was murdered on June 20, 2009, and the whole world was watching in horror, thanks to modern technology. The Green Movement, now underground but active, in Iran really need to know someone somewhere still gives a damn, that her life mattered.
My boy is part of a fairly successful indy rock band.
The band has produced a song, in memory of Neda, and it is wonderfully haunting and beautiful, not just my impression, lol, and I really want you to take a listen and remember Neda and all those who are still imprisoned and oppressed for whom she is a symbol..
The band have have partnered with Amnesty International, to raise awareness for Amnesty's Iran project, and made the tune available at itunes, ALL proceeds to Amnesty, but you can listen free below.
“ The prisoner’s worst nightmare is the thought of being forgotten. But knowing that your plight is in the hearts and minds of people across the world, brings you a great sense of hope.”, Maziar Bahari, the Iranian-Canadian journalist for Newsweek, after four months detention in Iran following the election.
I wrote a diary a week ago I shamelessly pimp here, not for my sake, but for the sake of Neda and the Iran Green Movement, hoping I am not alone in believing her life mattered.. http://www.dailykos.com/... It has links to watch the youtube HBO documentary on her life, and articles from Amnesty about the current state of affairs of the Green movement, and more. Here is the documentary link. http://www.youtube.com/...
In reviewing it today, I realize it has a rescued tag, I didn't realize that and I am most thankful. I hope I can be forgiven for re-rescuing it myself, it is so important to me that it be read and shared.
Here is the song
Please light a candle or say a prayer in Neda's memory and in support of the dissidents - and post your "I am Neda" picture here http://nedaspeaks.org/
May Peace Prevail
