After the shock (yeah, I'll call it that) of Italy finishing last in its group this morning as Paraguay and Slovakia advanced, it's hard to think of what may top that. But for those of us who are inclined to talk World Cup, we might as well do so here. The simultaneous matches of the afternoon are:
Holland v. Cameroon
and
Denmark v. Japan
Holland is assured to advance, probably in the first spot. Denmark/Japan is for second place, with Japan holding the tiebreaker.
And I think there is more to talk about as well!
FINALS: Japan 3, Denmark 1; Holland 2, Cameroon 1
Holland takes on Slovakia, Japan takes on Paraguay. In fact, with Uruguay vs. south Korea, it will be East Asia against the Guays!
UPDATE: WHERE WE STAND BY REGION:
Counting out Ivory Coast and Honduras tomorrow, and with two of Chile, Spain, and Switz to qualify (meaning that Europe is assured of one more spot, but we don't know whom), here's where we stand by region:
AFRICA: 1/6 qualified
ASIA: 2/3 qualified
EUROPE: 6/12 qualified + 1 spot undetermined
N.AMERICA: 2/3 qualified
OCEANIA: 0/2 qualified
S.AMERICA: 4/4 qualified + 1 spot undetermined
