Since the advent of the Internets, Republicans have been forwarding nasty gossip and rumors about Democrats via E-Mail. My in-box is always full of crap about Bill Clinton's Body Count, Al Gore's Global Warming Hoax, John Kerry's Purple Hearts and Barack Obama's Birth Certificate.
All of it easily debunked by replying to all with a Snopes link to the rumor.
Well, the Republicans have grown tiresome of every one of their vile lies being exposed by attacking the exposer.
Snopes.com, officially the Urban Legends Reference Pages, is a web site discussing urban legends, Internet rumors, e-mail forwards, and other stories of uncertain or questionable origin.
This strikes a lethal blow into the heart of Republican disinformation.
It should be of no surprise that I received an e-mail attacking Snopes.
I googled the first few lines and found this word-for-word blog posting.
If you’re like me, the first thing You did when you received an e-mail saying that the moon was full of UFOs or that President Obama was a Kenyan trained Ninja assasin, you went off to SNOPES.com to see what the deal was with those crazy e-mails. And for the most part, SNOPES has been a reliable informant on the truth about these Urban legends.
Or . . . apparently not. I began to notice that Snopes was taking more of a Leftist tack with things I obviously knew to be true, and was unwilling to revise their opinion when things went more for the right-wing than the lefties.

The Republicans long ago feared Wikipedia would loosen the ignorance that keeps their sheep penned so they soon launched the conservative counter - Conservapedia. The anti-Wikipedia started in 2006 by homeschool teacher and attorney Andy Schlafly, son of conservative Catholic activist Phyllis Schlafly.
Why not? Everyone knows that reality has a liberal bias.

The Republicans have waged an unrelenting propaganda and smear campaign, developed and supported by their monied corporate interests, against the progressive cause since the very first days of FDR and now they are attacking the debunkers like the good little book burners that they have always been.
