As Jed Lewison noted, Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is criticizing President Obama's temporary moratorium on deepwater oil drilling:
Joining Jindal in his call to lift the moratorium is Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) who accused the Obama administration of pursuing a policy that "could kill thousands of Louisiana jobs."
Meanwhile, the tourist haven of Grand Isle has been all but destroyed. The Louisiana fishing industry, which employs some 27,000 people, has been all but shut down.
To Vitter, some jobs just seem to be more important than other jobs. He even criticized holding investigative hearings about the Deepwater Horizon disaster before the well is capped. Which may happen before September.
Vitter apparently thinks we should go ahead and continue deepwater drilling, without even knowing why the current disaster happened, or when the devastation will stop. Because he's worried about the impact on the oil industry. But he has proposed legislation to prevent another offshore industry from even starting: underwater fish farming.
