h/t to lyvwyr101 for the Liz{ard} moniker.
Apparently, people who take issue when Americans are shot in the back of the head aren't the only ones disappointed by Obama's tepid statement regarding the Israeli attack on the Marmara. This incident has incensed Liz{ard} Cheney as well. In her statement on the matter she says...
President Obama is contributing to the isolation of Israel, and sending a clear signal to the Turkish-Syrian-Iranian axis that their methods for ostracizing Israel will succeed, and will be met by no resistance from America. There is no middle ground here. Either the United States stands with the people of Israel in the war against radical Islamic terrorism or we are providing encouragement to Israel’s enemies—and our own.
So much for the famous Republican claim that "politics stops at the water's edge." Little Liz{ard} has gone and dove in way over her head...
This didn't stop her fan club from immediately rebroadcasting this crap.
That must be why that bastion of all things American, The Weekly Standard, ran her statement, too. Of course, they are a straight news organization so they had to do it. Just like they had to run Carolyn Glick's racist video mocking (among other things) American deaths.
So let me get this straight. If Daddy shoots an American in the face, that's ok. If Israelis shoot an American in the back of the head, that's ok. If the president doesn't applaud, that's when we have a situation on our hands.
Even this batshit insanity wasn't enough for the echo chamber. Pamela Geller, who makes Michelle Malkin look sane, gave Liz's screed top billing with the headline:Liz Cheney Calls Out Obama's Anti-Semitism. That's a bit overstating things, but not by much.
After all, WTF is the Turkish-Syrian-Iranian axis? Since when does a NATO member get tarred as a terrorist state? Oh...wait a second, wasn't Turkey meddling in affairs a few years back when they actually got Syria to agree to sit down and negotiate a peace treaty with Israel? If you don't remember that, don't feel bad. Israel put the kibosh on that by invading Gaza and calling new elections.
But back to Liz's other claims: "No middle ground?" Really? Now it's "You're with us or against us...Mr. President!" WTF? Is she serious? So maybe he's not an anti-Semite, he's just providing comfort to Israel's enemies. And that makes them our enemies, too. And people said Ray McGovern was crazy claiming we went to war in Iraq because of the pro-Israel lobby. On the bright side, Liz didn't call Obama an anti-Semite - yet. Everyone knows that would be terrible. It's soooo much better to call the president a traitor than an anti-Semite, dontchyaknow? That way you have room to escalate.
Speaking of escalation... As I noted earlier, the Jerusalem Post ran a prominent Op-Ed by Carolyn Glick claiming, among other things:
TODAY’S GLOBAL campaign against the Jewish state is the product of three recent developments: The waning of traditional Arab power relative to the waxing of non-Arab Islamic states including Iran, Pakistan and Turkey; the concomitant rise of anti-Semitic incitement throughout the Islamic world; and the US’s attenuation of its ties with its allies generally and the US abandonment of its support for Israel specifically.
Ok, so you say Turkish-Syrian-Iranian Axis, I say Turkish-Pakistani-Iranian Axis. What's next? The Turkish-Indonesian-Iranian Axis? What's the difference? They're all Muslims - just like Obama. What more proof do you need they're in cahoots?
Of course, that meme is going to run into trouble now the Swedes are boycotting Israeli shipments. Well, they used to be Nazi-sympathizers, so expect a boycott against IKEA any day now. That was a joke, but obviously I spoke too soon. In solidarity with the Swedes, 40% of Norwegians would be willing to boycott Israeli products -- if only they had some. Damn, that axis of evil is growing by leaps and bounds. Add the Irish and it's only a matter of time before the Israelis decide it's simpler to just refer to this existential threat as "the UN" ... wow...I just had the strangest case of deja vu.
As Israel continues its intransigent behavior, I expect they will become more antagonistic towards their long-term ally, Turkey. Oh wait... they have already made it clear they will continue to do everything possible in the diplomatic area to inflame the situation. As reported in Ha'aretz:
Top official in Foreign Ministry says Turkish demand for an official apology was mainly an excuse to allow Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's to cut diplomatic ties with Israel.
Nice. Thumbing your nose at Turkey will sure get them to back down. What's their response?
According to a report in the Jerusalem Post,
Erdogan plans to sail to Gaza
Gee, that worked out well.
