I think by now we all know who Alvin Greene is- some-dude who defeated four-term state legislator, prosecutor and judge Vic Rawl for the Democratic nomination to run against Jim DeMint.
No one knows how he did it, no one knows from where he got the $10,500 filing fee- he's unemployed and lives with his parents.
Now the situation deteriorates even more: The guy is an asshole as well.
Yesterday we just knew he was a veteran, now we learn he was kicked out of the Army. And he showed obscene pictures to a young female College student- a felony for which he could face a prison sentence of up to 5 years.
Oh, and he took a public defender because he doesn't have the money for an attorney. I guess he sold everything he had for the filing fee. Which he tried to pay with a personal check, and after being turned down he returned a few hours later with a proper check.
And now go and read this wonderful Mother Jones interview with him: Some highlights:
Greene claims to have criss-crossed the state during his campaign—though he declined to specify any of the towns or places he visited or say how much money he spent while on the road.
"It wasn’t much, I mean, just, it was—it wasn’t much. Not much, I mean, it wasn’t much," he said, when asked how much of his own money he spent in the primary.
Greene, who has been unemployed for the past nine months, said that he wasn't surprised by his victory. "I wasn’t surprised, but not really. I mean, just a little, but not much. I knew I was on top of my campaign, and just stayed on top of everything, I just—I wasn't surprised that much, just a little. I knew that I worked hard and did," Greene said in an interview.
That guy sounds like he is seriously brainwashed or something like that.
The SC Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler said she'd call on him to withdraw his candidacy. Doesn't sound like he's planning on doing so, though- he said, that he was looking forward to the debates with Jim DeMint. So do I.
EDIT: By the time I'm finished writing this diary, it isn't all that much breaking anymore, so I took that out of the title.
