The House just voted to send $30B down the Karzai heroin dealer rat hole in Afghanistan while denying $20B to US unemployed and states bankrupted by the Afghanistan war and other GOP disasters like Wall Street fraud collapse.
The House can pass that before July 4th but can't pass $10B worth of unemployment help for US workers who lost their jobs because US dumped $1T to finance corruption and Cheney/Bush hubris in the Middle East benefiting no one but Halliburton and Blackwater.
WASHINGTON — Despite pessimism that the war in Afghanistan is turning out to be a quagmire, Democrats controlling the House muscled through a plan Thursday to finance President Barack Obama's troop surge, but only after sweetening the measure with last-ditch moves to salvage their faltering jobs agenda.
And of course when it comes to pissing away money and lives in failed wars in Afghanistan vs. helping Americans, we can always count on our stalwart president to threaten a veto.
The White House weighed in with a veto threat over $800 million in cuts to education programs.
Veto threat? Veto threat? Did I hear a veto threat until Congress passes the $50B stimulus and unemployment insurance extension? No? Didn't think so, just when military spending is threatened does Obama show up. Sending $30B to Afghanistan vs vetoing the bill until stimulus and unemployment insurance are restored.
It's almost like we can count on Obama to do the wrong thing and to leave working American's hanging.
Oh I forgot he passed "sweeping health care reform", unfortunately the only beneficiary there are the insurance companies with nice big rate hikes. Where was the veto then?
