I am down with this letter posted over at Media Matters. It's addressed to the media venues which fell hook, line, and sinker for the ginned up story about a purported intercontinental conspiracy to trick the public into believing greenhouse gas emissions are a threat. It ends with:
Every newspaper, magazine, and television show that reported on these bogus scandals owes it to its audience to set the record straight with the same forcefulness and frequency that it reported the original, disproven charges. Failure to publicly correct the record undermines the very heart of journalism -- to report the truth.
Not all traditional media outlets ran with it. Some committed actual journalism and served their readers and their vocation in the process. For the rest, and you know who you are, how many times do you have to get burned to a cinder by the same freaking group of people before you decide maybe, just maybe, this time, it might be a good idea to run it past a scientist or two who works in the field?
