Tomorrow volunteers all over the country will be in shopping malls, state fairs, farmers markets, outside of movie theaters, subway/bus stations, and anywhere else that we think there will be people willing to talk to us about this years election. My question is where will you be?
Can you imagine what dkos would be like if this time next year the Republicans control the House and the Senate? Will we be longing for the days of a good policy battle where the liberals battle the progressives battle the moderates battle the centrist?
Since my memory is not that short I know exactly what a Republican Congress with President Obama in the WH will look like. It will be all about bringing him down so that they can regain the Presidency. The one thing I can guarantee is that there will not be a Democratic agenda for us to argue over.
It will be bogus subpoenas and drummed up hearings. It will be grandstanding and obstructionism taking to the nth degree.
They will function by the motto that was given to them by their leader Rushbo the day President Obama was inaugurated: "I hope he fails" and comments like Jim DeMint’s hopeful declaration: "Health Care Reform will be Obama's Waterloo". The Obama agenda will flatline and we will waste 24 months fighting silly hearings on anything that they think will paint the Democrats in a bad light.
Tomorrow Organizing for America will be having a 2010 Day of Action event somewhere in your local area.
"With less than four months until the November elections, supporters are gathering to register voters and get the millions of folks who voted for the first time in 2008 back to the polls this year."
The question is where will you be?
Join your local OFA Community Organizers and have a say in keeping our majorities this year.
*I do not work for OFA. I am just a volunteer who is working hard to maintain our majorities in the House and the Senate.
