The microphilanthropy movement is revolutionary and innovative, it promotes sharing, and carries the promise of changing society. I'd like to be a part of that movement, and I'd like to form a relationship with a benefactor who would also like to be involved in innovative sharing, and possibly start a new trend in giving.
I've been working pro bono for a non-profit organization for about five years. I've been underemployed for paying work, and I do search for paying work, but when I'm not doing that, I need to be working. I need to know I'm making a contribution to my community.
I respect deeply the non-profit I work for, I fit in perfectly with my colleagues, and I get excellent yearly performance reviews. That hasn't been the case in for-profit corporations where I've worked in the past. If I can, I want to continue my work at the non-profit, since I'm contributing to such a worthy effort.
The non-profit doesn't have the funding to pay for my work there. I admire the growing microphilanthropy movement, and it occurred to me that I could model an arrangement for myself that would be a kind of microphilanthropy. I'd like a partnership with a benefactor who would be willing to fund my part-time work at the non-profit. I'm making a small difference in my part of the world by doing this, I'm working in a place where I belong, and I'd like to be able to continue. I'd also welcome friendship with someone who shares my values.
I'm not sure exactly how to get in touch with people through DKos, but anyone sincerely interested in exploring this can contact me at xyzuomo at live dot com.
